ELVINGTON
The Yorkshire Air Museum just outside York hosts
this event every year, and is well worth a visit regardless of whether
EMLRA are there or not. The Museum features, amongst other things,
a fully restored WWII control tower and a permanent exhibition dedicated
to Barnes Wallis, inventor of (to name but a few) the Welllington
Bomber, the dam-busting bouncing bomb and most of the other unusual
bombs used by 617 Squadron to do unusual things from unusual heights.
Wayne not only managed to turn up in a Land Rover that actually
belongs to himself, he broke it as well.

Rapier 127", SII
109 Ambulance (Kevin McGeough), Unmentionable, Mine-protected SIII
109 (Edward Johnson), SIII Lightweight (Sue Cummings), SII 109 GS,
SIIA 109 GS (Wayne Davies).
The burning question is - who
sneaked the Austin Gypsy in without asking? The following morning
EMLRA moved en masse to a different location, leaving the
unattended Gypsy in situ.
