Imperial War Museum Duxford 5th August

Not a weekend for flying displays, but a splendid way in to a marvellous museum of military aviation. Being the Cambridgeshire-based arm of the IWM, Duxford also boasts the permanent Land Warfare Exhibition Hall, which is worth a visit in its own right (black and green things, you see). This particular weekend was a general Military Vehicle Day with something in excess of two hundred vehicles being on display of all types and from all eras.

For the exhibitors, the highlight of the day is the Cavalcade. This is a unique opportunity to see the best part of one hundred military vehicles thundering along and around the runway for half-an-hour or so. BBC East were in attendance and had their camera mounted in the rear of a slow-moving DUKW, resulting in some footage of Club members that was used in BBC East bulletins throughout the following week.

*SPEED: In this case - 45mph

Just to prove that it's not all Land Rovers, Wayne Davies found this couple with not just the vehicle but the personas to go with it. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday at all.

John Bailey was clearly hanging around the 101 end of the lineup armed with a camera and dropped the following three pictures into an email...
