Elvington 2001
"Is
your name Wayne Davies?"
"Erm - yes."
SLAP!
Returning after last September's visit, the
event was bigger and so was the EMLRA turn-out. Twelve members were booked
in, but a number of others turned up as well to give a display that was,
to quote the BBC pushing Radio Two, different every time. The weather was
variable. Sometimes it was raining. Sometimes it wasn't. Usually,
though, it was raining. Yorkshire in June - marvelous.
Not quite a panoramic view, but you get the
idea. For some reason there was a very high proportion of Lightweights
in attendance - do more Lightweights live north of the Midlands than south?
Answers on a postc... no, better not.

88" Lightweight Defence Fire Service (Peter Barratt) and GS (Sue
Cummings) and 109 RAF Ambulance (Mike Allmey)
Was
it mentioned it rained occasionally? Saturday night was persistently
wet. At around 5:30pm Peter Barratt had kindly invited several people
into his 9x9 to shelter from the elements. By 11pm there were eight people
in there (with one more nearly inside) and Peter was onto second, if not
fifth, thoughts about offering hospitality again.
The water became so bad that
Kevin McGeough was able to demonstrate to George Jackson that his beer
can never emptied, although the ABV was plummeting as time went on. Not
that George cared - he had (a) his own non-diluted supply, and (b) was
sitting inside the tent. Whereas Kevin didn't and wasn't.
Non-Prize
Competition
What is George Jackson attempting
to hide in his trailer by placing other items in the way?
Answers on a postcard to Crimewatch
- they'd love to know too.
