We hope to encourage you to pay a real visit to one of the UK's largest volunteer managed aviation museums. Their diverse collection of aircraft and cockpit sections covers the history of aviation, the aircraft on display include 10 National Benchmark aircraft; 29 Significant aircraft and 18 Noteworthy aircraft as listed in the National Aviation Heritage Register. Nearly two thirds of the exhibits are now displayed inside. The first airframe was secured in 1963, The Museum relocated to its present leased site on the eastern side of Winthorpe Showground during the winter of 1977 / 78 and started the long process of re-establishing its collection.
At Easter 1990 the Museum opened its first Aircraft Display Hall to the public and it provided 1,860 square metres of under cover aircraft display space, and currently houses 28 of the Museum’s aircraft and cockpits. In 1994 the trustees started negotiations to purchase farmland on the museum’s southern boundary with the aim of guaranteeing the Museum’s long-term future. Formal searches and formalities were eventually completed, allowing the purchase of 5.01 hectares of farmland to be completed prior to Christmas 1995.
In 2004 the Museum completed the construction of a second Aircraft Display Hall, which now houses 14 aircraft and cockpits. Occupying 2,400 square metres the new building was completed thanks to a grant of £453,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund, and the fund raising efforts and donations from the members and visitors. The EMLRA are being offered the chance to display our vehicles and kit at this lovely venue for free, there is plenty of space for us to put on some lovely displays. We can camp “Green” with our vehicles and can arrive from Friday, the site has toilets and water points, want to know more then contact Andy for more detail.

It has a well-earned reputation for appealing to enthusiasts and families alike, and is considered one of the UK's top air shows and we get the chance to be in the middle of things and camp on the base to see the evening’s comings and goings as well as the spectacular flying during the days. The huge amount of stalls provides an enormous range of interesting and exciting goods for  you to view and buy. In addition to aviation and military memorabilia for the enthusiast, the stalls offer an unrivalled range of goods to cater for all interests, from furniture to face-painting, cameras to costume jewellery, models to mobile phones, books to binoculars; in fact you name it and it's there somewhere! Whatever your age you will find something of interest in the Main Exhibition located in Number 3 Hangar. Exhibits in the hangar include displays by RAF Waddington's resident squadrons, aviation museums, and major aerospace companies such as BAE Systems, Boeing, Northrop-Grumman and Snecma., HM Customs also have a very interesting and popular display and the model aircraft are always a big draw. Two of the most popular exhibits are the Kart Club and the Wargames Club. The Classic Car & Vintage Military Vehicle Exhibition is located behind the main static aircraft line. Those of you on a nostalgia trip will have a chance to see again dozens of classic and vintage vehicles and aircraft that were so often the wonder of their day.

Last year’s War and Peace show held at the Hop Farm Country Park in Beltring, Kent was billed as the world’s largest military vehicles and collectors fair. It featured some 3,500 vehicles along with 1,000 stalls, many hundreds of living history re-enactors, a massive events arena with spectacular battle re enactments and many more attractions for young and old.   Once again last year the EMLRA attended the show and I can truly say that the sights there had to be seen to be believed. With military vehicles stretching across three large fields as far as the eye could see, there was something of interest for everyone, and far more than a report such as this can ever do justice. So for 2008 come and see for your self.

Well can we say, this is still the biggest and the best Land-Rover show in the country, its run by Land-Rover Monthly Mag and the venue is the Gt Billing Holiday and Leisure centre. The EMLRA Display is always well attended and the Traditional Bar-B-Q is not to be missed. You can come for the whole time or just as a day visitor. Billing is the Mecca for the member who enjoys all forms of Land-Rovers and not just the Matt Green ones. Its a great fun family show with the Land-Rover as the star of the show the Military content is quite small with us and the 101 club flying the MOD flag, you will find a few stalls such as Ancore surplus but most are a living example of what’s in a LRM magazine, if you love Land-Rovers then don’t miss this show. things to come.

Selkirk show  is an exceptional show, the success story of EMLRA in Scotland. we had twelve vehicles last year and that was with two cancelling another big show and a prize up for grabs too. The show had over 1800 entries and is ideal for us EMLRA members to meet up as it is near the English border. the show is a two day event with the public only allowed in on the Sunday so am sure this is a great chance to get to know some of the guys and girls from across the border on the Saturday night. a great show for EMLRA to extend it’s wings into Scotland. Coming off the A74 at Moffat and then on to the Selkirk road which is known to be voted one of the top ten driving roads in the UK. This show being two days gives all entries free camping but there is no electric points for caravans so bring your generators.
